Don’t just take our word for it…

We realise it can be difficult to understand how financial advice works in practice. Especially if you’ve never met with a financial adviser before, or your previous experience of working with an adviser left you feeling like you were being ‘sold’ to.

At Broadleaf we don’t believe in selling products. Instead we work with you over the long-term to help you achieve your financial goals. We have created a series of case studies, sharing some of our clients’ stories and experiences of working with us. To find out how we can help you please get in touch.

Workplace group pensions
James – Company director

As the director of a medium sized company James had offered his employees membership of a group pension scheme for many years with very low levels of engagement – under 50% of his team were making employee contributions to the scheme. Concerned that his employees were missing out on pension income and keen to maximise the benefits to the business James contacted Broadleaf.

James said:
“Mike agreed to provide regular advice sessions for all our employees, explaining the long term benefits of the scheme to potential new members and answering any questions members had. These proved extremely popular and within six months take up rates rose to just over 85% of our employees. A fantastic result! Mike is now a familiar face around our offices – he is great at explaining things to us and always responds quickly to any queries we have.”

Personal Pension Advice
Jill – choosing her annuity

Jill was coming up to retirement when she received some annuity options through the post from her pension provider.

Jill said:
“I knew I had to make some kind of decision regarding my pension and was pretty sure that I needed to choose one of the options outlined in the letter but I didn’t really understand much of what they were talking about. I was chatting to a friend about this over dinner and she recommended I talk to John from Broadleaf. I called the office and after an initial chat with John we agreed that he would come out and visit me at home. We chatted through the options and I discussed my concerns for the future with John as I had certain medical conditions that I was conscious might make things more difficult for me in the future. John explained to me that I didn’t need to take up the options provided by my pension provider and we agreed that he would go away and search the whole of the market for the best deal for me. A week later John got back in touch with a new offer which saw my retirement income increase by 25%. I was delighted!”

Investment advice
Amelia – investing a lump sum

Amelia had separated from her husband and was given a lump sum as part of the divorce. She had relied on her husband for most financial decisions and was wary of seeing a financial adviser.

Mike said:
“When Amelia was discussing her options with her son-in-law, he suggested she called us – he has been a client of mine for a number of years. After completing a full analysis of her needs and discussing how she felt about risk, it was agreed to invest in something that would not only give her extra tax efficient income, but would protect the capital as far as possible. A robust investment portfolio following our strict investment criteria was advised. Amelia has now been taking a 5% income from her capital each year and now after several years the capital has been maintained and even increased slightly. Amelia has since referred her sister and daughter to us. I feel like I’m part of the family!”
